XenTari® is the world’s only biological insecticide containing a natural, potent strain (ABTS-1857) of the microorganism Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies aizawai (Bta). It controls caterpillar pests on vegetables, fruits, nuts, row crops, and turf (specific registrations vary by country). XenTari is proven to provide exceptional control of key problem pests such as armyworms and diamondback moth larvae.
As a native Bt strain, XenTari
contains insecticidal toxin proteins that are typically found in other Bt subspecies (typical Bta and Btk). XenTari
features a balanced blend of four potent toxin proteins and a spore, targeting key pests at levels few biological products can match.
Consistent Field Performance
XenTari is produced through fermentation with exacting quality standards. Every production lot is tested multiple times to make sure it meets the performance standards that growers expect in the field.
Low Impact on Workers and the Environment
With its highly specific activity and natural origin, XenTari does not harm important beneficial insects such as bees for pollination, insect predators, and parasites used in control of other insect pests. XenTari is also not harmful to humans, wildlife or the environment, providing growers with much-needed flexibility.

Harvest and Residue Management
XenTari can be applied right up to the time of harvest (zero PHI, regional regulations may vary). This makes XenTari a perfect choice for periods with multiple harvests and for late-season applications, enabling a program that meets the most exacting Maximum Residue Level (MRL) demands.

XenTari for use with DiPel®
XenTari is commonly applied as a rotation partner with DiPel, also from VBC. DiPel contains another subspecies of Bt, Bt kurstaki (Btk), which offers broad-spectrum caterpillar control on more than 200 crops, including vegetables, fruits, nuts, vines, cotton, and corn.
XenTari for use with Synthetic Pyrethroids
XenTari and synthetic pyrethroid insecticides work well together because of their complementary modes of action. XenTari damages the caterpillar gut and disrupts gut functions thereby reducing detoxification of the ingested pyrethroid, which affects the pests’ nervous system. The mode of action of XenTari preserves more of the chemical insecticide, allowing for higher caterpillar mortality. Pyrethroids give broad spectrum insect control to larvae and adults of many insect species and are highly prone to resistance. Like DiPel, XenTari is more specific in its spectrum of insect toxicity against caterpillars.
XenTari for use with Spinosad Products
XenTari provides effective control of armyworms and diamondback moth when used alone, in rotation, or in a tank mix with products containing the active ingredient spinosad – another widely used, broad spectrum insecticide that is prone to resistance.
XenTari is available in Dry Flowable (DF) and Water Dispersible Granule (WDG) formulations. These formulations are state-of-the-art, dust free formulations of XenTari featuring the powerful biological active ingredient, Bta strain ABTS-1857. Both formulations have exceptional stability and shelf life.
